Everett Visitation

Continued from page 1

The degree was presented in great form and all of us who traveled there enjoyed it.  After they finished the 4° they then conferred a sixth degree.  That was the first time I have seen a 6° and it was well worth my time, I really enjoyed the presentation of this degree.

Those of us who are in the Scottish Rite spend far too little time visiting other Valleys.  Certainly I learned more about the Rite, saw how someone else puts on degrees, had a nice dinner, and enjoyed the fellowship of the Everett Brothers that evening and I am very glad I did not miss the event.

One thing of interest to many of us who visited was the use of a rear projection screen, LCD projector, and sound.  It added a lot and our degree director wondered why we had not purchased a screen.

 Board Meeting

Fourth Wednesday

The Board of Directors will meet Wednesday the 25th of February 2004 and you may want to consider being there.  The Board does the business of the Temple Corporation but more importantly it does the business of the Scottish Rite Bodies of the Valley of Bellingham.  If you want your opinion heard before the vote is taken you have to be there.

The Boards meetings are casual in dress and also in operation.  All members of the Valley are welcome to attend and be heard.  Although only Board Members can vote the members of the Valley have the opportunity to make resolutions to change Bodies resolutions made by the Board when they are read in the minutes of the Board at the Stated Meeting of the Valley.  The reason this can be done is that the Board does the Business of the Bodies by Bodies resolution so that our stated meeting can be shorter and not burdened with business issues.  All board resolution for the Bodies must be confirmed in a Stated Meeting.

Resolutions of the Board of Directors concerning Temple Corporation issues can not be acted upon at a stated meeting, Board resolutions are final.  This is not a rule of the Valley but Corporate Law of the State of Washington because the Temple Corporation is a separate corporation.  A special meeting of the members of the Temple Corporation must be called to overturn a Temple Board Resolution.
