The Board of Directors
met on December 27th. It
was reported that Bob Morrison has resigned from the Valley and therefore
his position on the Board is vacant.
At the Stated Meeting on
January 3rd an election was held and Ron Fine was elected to
finish Bob’s term on the Board.
The Building Committee reported
that a new lease has been signed with La Fiamma Restaurant with a term of 5
years to use the lower kitchen as a prep-kitchen.

The January 2007
Stated Meeting
By Steve Cronkhite
Venerable Master Gene
Gilbert, 32°KCCH opened the meeting on January 3rd at the
appointed time. Highlights included
appointing a nominating committee and electing Ron Fine to the Temple Board of Directors to fill Bob
Morrison’s position.
We had a turnout of about
15 members which is a good turnout these days. Our new Secretary took over the southwest
corner of the lodge in great style.
Personally, it felt good to have someone besides me in that corner
of the lodge. Welcome to the Valley
of Bellingham,
Paul.

The Building –
continued from Page 4
From then to
1995 when I took over as building manager the Temple operated with the
entire building rented to Masonic organizations except for Whatcom Center
for Early Learning which rented out the back portion of the basement dining
room. At that time we had just
cashed in our last CD except for the Life Membership Trust.
Unfortunately,
the building was losing $1000.00 a month and in 3.2 years it would have
eaten up the Life Member Trust funds.
We were forced to look for new income for the building.
First we
rented the second and third floors to the Aikido. That rental brought us to break even in
cash flow. Later we rented out the
lower kitchen to Ciao Thyme Catering.
Then came the rental to Fools Onion Catering for the main floor
kitchen. Finally came the renting of
the lower dining room to Dream On Futon for a sewing factory.
It is the
rental income that has funded the remodeling of the main floor.
