Our
Building (continued from page 1)
Certainly my fond memories of meeting beautiful
girls in fancy dresses and dancing the night away in the building in one of
the reasons I was driven to join the lodges in the building but it doesn’t
end there.
Our building isn’t just another building, it is a
Masonic building, built by Masons and it has a Masonic history that is part
of the community. That history is an
accomplishment to be proud of and continue.
Our building is something physical to point at and
focus on. It is something for us to
make successful and learn how to manage it in a way we can be proud
of. There are a lot of life lessons
to be learned managing a building and dealing with all the people
associated with the building.
Our building is our home, the Valley has been here
longer than any of our members can remember and if you do remember when we
moved here please contact me. Our
history is here and we should take pride in our history.
You see, our building is substantial; a physical
representation of what Masonry and more especially Scottish Rite Masonry
can do for you. You see Masonry
isn’t about a pile of bricks and a pile of bricks is just a pile of bricks
not a building. To be a building
that pile of bricks needs a design, mortar, beams, and men to form a
building out of those materials.
It is easy for us mortals to be just a pile of
bricks. To go through life lacking
form and substance looking at what is wrong with life and blaming our short
comings on others.
A building not nurtured and well maintained all too
soon will cease to be a building and will return to just a pile of
bricks. Being an upright Mason
doesn’t come easily. It takes great
effort to meet the high ideals Masonry teaches.
