The Venerable Master
By Steve Cronkhite

I’ve been a member of the Valley of Bellingham
since 1995. From 1996 to 2004 I was
the “Paid Help” of the Valley serving as our General Secretary.

A Time of Remembrance
By Steve Cronkhite
The Wise Master, Chuck
Anway hosted this year’s Remembrance and Renewal dinner Wednesday March 28th. When he said the dress was Tux, I
groaned. In my retirement I find
myself in jeans often just because I’m too lazy to change my clothes. So getting into my Tux for a dinner
sounded like a gigantic hassle.
However, you’d be
surprised what I’ll do to get a steak dinner. On Wednesday evening I found myself in my
Tux, with my wife in a lovely outfit, feeling like I was someone
special.
There is just something
special about dressing up and sharing fine wine, fine fellowship, and hors
d’ oeuvres with friends.

The evening didn’t end
there, a steak dinner supplied by Fools Onion Catering followed. I’ve cooked baked potatoes exactly twice
in that kitchen and both times the potatoes were far from perfect, raw
would be the word. I got thinking it
was the stove that was the problem.
The steak was cooked
perfectly, the green beans were cooked exactly the way I like them, the
home made rolls were scrumptious, and the baked potatoes were cooked to
perfection, to my chagrin. It wasn’t
the stove, it was the cook.
