From the Desk
of the Editor.
I’ve spent most of my time
in Masonry looking for our secrets.
Our secrets and the answers to the questions posed to us in our
degrees are elusive. The goal of
Masonry is to make good men better through the study of man’s search, both
past and present, to attain perfection.
If our goal is to attain
perfection then why does Masonry have so much internal strife? Sometimes I think the Masons are just a
bunch of crotchety old men looking for a fight.
I have spent most of my
life active in my church. One of the
things I learned early in my Christian education is that God is perfect but
the church is run by imperfect men.
The one thing I am sure of after my years worshiping God is that he
forgives me for my imperfection and bad decisions.
If I’ve learned anything
in my walk with God it is that we must forgive our fellow church members
for their short comings and mistakes.
We Masons are a
Brotherhood of like minded men seeking perfection. I think all too often we forget one of
our basic tenants, WE ARE BROTHERS!
If your Brother does
something stupid you can be upset with his actions but he is still you
brother. If our fraternity is to
survive and attain its goals then we all have to learn the skill of
forgiving our Brothers and standing by them and supporting them in their
search for perfection, a lofty goal mortal man can never achieve.
