Our Candidates
with their new 32° Hats
Consistory Dinner – Continued from Page
1
The most
important part of the dinner came after Ill. Randy Carroll’s speech, it was
the awarding of the 32nd Degree Hats to Russ Weston, 32°, Tim
Springstead,32°, and Cary James, 32°.
The Personal Representative, Ill. Winton Smith, 33° is in the
foreground along with Russ Weston’s wife Becky, who capped her husband
(please excuse the photographer for only getting her hair).

As I was
walking around taking pictures I happened upon these two gentlemen, Chuck
Nelson and Tim Powell. I thought
they had the look of “Important” down to a tee so I invited the Personal Representative
over to pose with them.

You know,
it’s hard to capture “That Look” but they accomplished it.

As I get older I’m finding out what my Father said
when he was talking about the “Good Old Days.” Somehow as you get older your memory keeps
the good memories and forgets the bad memories so that we only remember the
good times from the past. This
dinner was a “Good Old Days” dinner.
Everyone who attended was relaxed and enjoyed a comfortable evening
of fellowship.

Above is Doctor Wagner de Avila. Dr. de Avila is a famous urologist from Brazil. Why
was he at our Consistory Dinner?
Well, it just happens that he is also a 15° Scottish Rite Mason and
Past Master of his Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge. Yes, his Blue Lodge is affiliated to the
Scottish Rite and his Grand Lodge is the Scottish Rite.
He was in Bellingham
because he stayed with my parents, Phyllis and Philip Cronkhite 29 years
ago on a Rotary International Student Exchange Program. He went to Rotary often with me during
his stay. During his stay he helped
me rebuild my dock. He visited my
wife and I for the first time in 29 years the last week of May and was
excited to come to our dinner. It is
typical of my photographic abilities that the best photo I got of him was
tipping a wine glass.

Here he is sitting with my wife, Grace, Wayne
Deming and Harriet McEuen watching Carey James being capped. He enjoyed our dinner and was surprised
to find out that Masonic Lodges here were not associated with the Scottish
Rite.
