From the Desk

of the Editor.

I guess the first of September is a sign that summer is over and fall is soon to begin.  The fact that summer is over really hit home last night when I was outside at 8:30 and it was getting dark.  Why is it that God makes the days shorter in winter?  Does it mean we are to look inward in winter and contemplate how we can make the voyage through life of our Brothers and fellow men easier?

Did you know that before the invention of the electric light bulb that people slept an average of 10 hours a night.  Now we don’t average 8 hours a night.

The question is, “What have we done with those two or more hours we have every day to make the world better or the lives of those around us better?”

I think the answer is that most if not all of us don’t use our gifts well and don’t spend nearly enough time using our God given gifts to make the world a better place.

My years of life experience and study of God’s word and Masonry tell me that it isn’t the big things, the things that show, or the things that others notice that are truly the important things in life.  It is the little, unnoticed things we can do for others that are truly a gift to mankind.

This year my personal goal is to have fun at lodge and continue our “Informal Year” where we can come to lodge in casual dress instead of getting dressed for the occasion.  Please join me in Lodge this year.
