Christmas Dinner
An intimate evening
By Steve
Cronkhite, Venerable Master
On the evening of
December 19, 2007 I had occasion to reflect on what the Scottish Rite is
all about. It was Christmas time and
a good time for reflection.
Often we tend to get
caught up in the degrees of the Rite and make them all important. Although the degrees offer education and
time for pondering what qualities of life that make good men better the
degrees are not what is all important in the Scottish Rite.
Our Christmas Dinner was
an intimate evening this year with children and grand-children at the
dinner. I have to say that their
presence made a good evening better.
Christmas is a time for children.
More than that, children
and family is really what the Scottish Rite is all about. Being a better man is not just about
personal improvement; a good man should find family and children to be an
all important part of being a “Good Man.”
Our entertainment was two
army recruiters telling us about spending Christmas in Iraq. There presentation really brought home
the sacrifice that our servicemen and women make serving their country.
Thank you Chuck Anway,
Wise Master, for putting on such a great evening.
